Team CVGA Wins Inaugural ViMo Cup

Congratulations to Team CVGA for winning the inaugural ViMo Cup competition against Team MGL (Mongolian Golf League) at Klein Creek Golf Club on Sunday, May 18, 2025. The one-day Ryder Cup competition consisted of Team Scrambles and Team Four Ball matches. Team CVGA won the cup with 14 points against 8 for Team MGL.

Team CVGA started strong, winning the first three team scramble matches. Team MGL bounced back and won the next match, but Team CVGA quickly regained the lead by winning the next two matches. After the team scramble session, Team CVGA had a 7.5 to 3.5 advantage. Team MGL made a strong comeback on the team 4-ball session, taking the first 4.5 points of 7. But Team CVGA won the next 4 points to secure the inaugural ViMo Cup.

The ViMo Cup was a great time for all, and we’re already planning the 2026 ViMo Cup. A big shoutout to team captains Hoang Le (CVGA) and Oobo Ochirjav (MGL) for making it a terrific event. Can’t wait for next year’s competition!

Recap of the 2024 Mongolian Golf League: A Year of Breakthroughs and Milestones

The 2024 Mongolian Golf League season has come to an exciting close, marking the third season of the Mongolian Golf League (MGL). The season was packed with intense competition, personal bests, and historic moments that cemented the league’s growing reputation in Mongolian community in USA. Sponsored by Quintus with a purse of $10,000, the season featured 10 thrilling tournaments from May 12th to September 29th, offering a glimpse into the rising talent of Mongolian golfers.

Overview of the Season

This year, 40 male and female golfers participated in the MGL, battling it out for tournament victories and crucial points. The league followed a point system where players accumulated points based on their performance across each tournament, with only the top eight finishes out of ten counting towards the season rankings. Each tournament boasted a $1,000 purse, and with the stakes high, competitors pushed themselves to new heights.

The Season Champion: Ganzorig Sandag

At the end of the season, Ganzorig Sandag emerged as the 2024 Mongolian Golf League champion, amassing an impressive 340 points. His consistency and resilience throughout the season were key to his success, culminating in a well-deserved title win and the season’s top prize of $1,000 and a Champion’s trophy.

His closest competitor was Bolor Navaan of Quintus, who fought fiercely to challenge Ganzorig for the title. Navaan finished the season just 10 points behind with 330, earning him the runner-up position and $500. The rivalry between Ganzorig and Bolor provided fans with nail-biting excitement, particularly as the season drew to a close, with the outcome undecided until the final tournaments.

A Star is Born: Gegeen Bayarjargal

The 2024 season, however, may be remembered most for the remarkable performance of Gegeen Bayarjargal. At just 12 years old, Gegeen not only won the ladies’ division championship but also shattered expectations with her overall gameplay. She accumulated 285 points over the season, securing her $500 in gift card and a Champion’s Trophy for the division title.

Her crowning moment came during the final tournament at the Highlands of Elgin Golf Course, where Gegeen delivered a show-stopping performance. She hit a hole-in-one on the 15th hole—an exceptionally rare achievement in golf, regardless of age or experience. This historic shot helped her post the tournament’s best gross score of 79, highlighting her growing potential as a future golf star not just among Mongolians but potentially on the global stage.

Gegeen also earned the title of the Most Improved Player of the league, boasting an impressive improvement factor of 1.970. Her rapid development and natural skill set her apart from the field, indicating that she may dominate Mongolian golf for years to come.

SCHAUMBURG, ILL. Feb 18, 2024. — Mongolian Golf League (MGL) formally announces a year-long partnership with QUINTUS Contracting Inc. QUINTUS will become presenting sponsor of MGL Tour 2024.

MGL Tour 2024 presented by QUINTUS is a golf league season featuring 10 golf tournaments, starting in May 2024 and to be held on two different courses alternately throughout the season.

The league’s goal to create a new way to experience golf by bring out golfers’ competitiveness and to make golf more enjoyable, interesting and popular to Mongolians in the US. QUINTUS’ investment in golf will prove in helping MGL reach this goal.

The annual match play was held on October 21st, 2023 at Bartlett Hills Golf Course. After some intense and exciting singles matches, the Northside Team led by Captain Chinbat Onooroi beat the Southside Team led by Captain Bayarjargal Sereenen by 4 points.
